Dear Parents/Families,

Waukegan Public School district has decided to adopt the following e-learning plan for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.  The plan was approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. 

• This plan is to be used when a building or the district needs to close due to inclement weather or other emergency school days.  

• Students will participate in 5 hours of instructional activities daily during remote learning.

• Student attendance will be taken daily by their teacher(s).

  • Student attendance is mandatory and parents must call the attendance line if their student is going to miss school.

• Students will be graded based on work they complete, and may be able to make up and redo assignments.  

• Students will have access to their IEP services during remote learning. 

During this remote learning, communication with parents/guardians is pivotal to the success of student learning. Frequent communication between the principal, teacher(s), and other school staff are crucial during this time.  

Your child’s teacher will provide additional details about how learning will continue.  We are committed to ensuring continuous and meaningful learning for all students. You can call the school office with any questions or concerns.

Estimados padres / familias:

El distrito de escuelas públicas de Waukegan ha decidido adoptar el siguiente plan de aprendizaje electrónico para el resto del año escolar 2021-22. El plan fue aprobado por la Junta de Educación del Estado de Illinois. 

• Este plan se utilizará cuando un edificio o el distrito necesite cerrar debido a las inclemencias del tiempo u otros días escolares de emergencia.  

• Los estudiantes participarán en 5 horas diarias de actividades de instrucción durante el aprendizaje remoto.

• La asistencia de los estudiantes será tomada diariamente por su maestro (s).

  • La asistencia de los estudiantes es obligatoria y los padres deben llamar a la línea de asistencia si su estudiante va a faltar a la escuela.

• Los estudiantes serán calificados en base al trabajo que completen y es posible que puedan recuperar y rehacer las asignaciones.  

• Los estudiantes tendrán acceso a sus servicios de IEP durante el aprendizaje remoto. 

Durante este aprendizaje remoto, la comunicación con los padres / tutores es fundamental para el éxito del aprendizaje de los estudiantes. La comunicación frecuente entre el director, el (los) maestro(s) y otro personal de la escuela es crucial durante este tiempo.  

El maestro de su hijo proporcionará detalles adicionales sobre cómo continuará el aprendizaje. Estamos comprometidos a garantizar un aprendizaje continuo y significativo para todos los estudiantes. Puede llamar a la oficina de la escuela si tiene preguntas o inquietudes.
